What is a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
A SANE is a specially trained medical provider with a minimum of an RN degree, who:
- Provides comprehensive care to the sexual assault survivor
- Conducts a forensic examination and collection of evidence
- Can be called as an expert witness in the courtroom
