What is a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)

A SANE is a specially trained medical provider with a minimum of an RN degree, who:

• Provides comprehensive care to the sexual assault survivor
• Conducts a forensic examination and collection of evidence
• Can be called as an expert witness in the courtroom
